hi + welcome!

I’m Elaina Lorenzo Marino (she/they), a writer, theater artist, and filmmaker currently living in Los Angeles. This blog is, among other things, an attempt to create a collage portrait of this beautiful, grimy, and sprawling city through my personal perspective as a transfem artist. My primary focus is queer nightlife and the possibilities it holds for liberation and community.

always writing

I upload a new article each week of various genres: art criticism, live event reviews, personal blogs, academic analyses, and transmissions from the underground of Los Angeles.

inspirations

Some writers that guide my process include Joan Didion, Andrea Long Chu, hannah baer, José Esteban Muñoz, and Hanif Abdurraqib. Their beautiful works are instrumental in the growth of my style, a blend of personal anecdotes, academic thought, and observational journalism of my city and the communities within it.

want to support?

As of now, all my articles will be free, but subscriptions would be incredibly helpful in supporting me and my ability to write consistently. Subscriptions are currently $8/month (two bucks an article!) or $80/year (a buck + a half an article!)
